The double-ikat technique, where both warp and weft threads are resist-dyed before weaving, requires extraordinary skill and produces geometric patterns of remarkable complexity. Pochampally handloom carries GI certification and is woven into saris worth ₹5,000 to ₹1,50,000. The first IKAT fabric ever to receive UNESCO recognition was from Pochampally — and it was made by women.
